New Black, Queer Yoga Event Launches in San Francisco

Hosted by Well and Blacker founder, Renaissance, and Bae Black Boy, Hot Yoga aims to be a free yoga event designed for the Bay Area’s Black queer community.

Originally launched in Portland, Oregon by Renaissance, Well and Blacker and Bae Black Boy, a Bay Area community for queer black men, are excited to bring the much needed concept to the Bay Area. By removing financial and cultural barriers that often keep queer, Black communities from accessing the restorative benefits of yoga, the aim is to help more of the Bay Area Black queer community connect with yoga in a way that feels supportive and welcoming.

“We’re so happy to be able to offer this premium experience to our community,” says Renaissance. “Yoga is for all of us. This is the kind of event that our community needs and deserves, without needing to access these super white spaces in order to get it.” All genders, experience levels and bodies are welcome.

Renaissance’s brand, Well and Blacker, is a hub for all things wellness – yoga, hiking, cycling and more – through the lens of Black, queer community. “It’s a place to find wellness resources, ideas and opportunities. The weller you are, the Blacker you are.”

The Bay Area Hot Yoga launch event took place on Sunday, January 14 at Hot 8 Yoga in San Francisco. Well and Blacker aims to hold this event monthly, so keep an eye out.
